I can see a rainbow

...except not. It appears this was really just a catwalk trend, and didn't really trickle down. At least, not for plus sizes. Disappointing.
I am suffering from wisdom tooth extraction (I still can't chew properly) and am hopped up on painkillers, so I figured, instead of bringing you non-existent rainbow flavoured clothing, I would turn to the next best thing to clothing - makeup!
Yes, I know it's hot. Yes, I know it's going to get even hotter. Makeup is the last thing you feel like attempting when it just slides off your face anyway. But if you want to get on board the rainbow trend train, this is one of your best options.
Like I've said previously, the best companies for bright eyeshadows and lipsticks are MAC and NARS. For a little cheaper, Australis, Rimmel , Chi Chi, Revlon and BYS work pretty well. You can either go for a bright, rainbow eye, or highlighter coloured lips.
Rainbow eyes:
You can either be brave and attempt a few colours at once - the best eyeshadow colours are MAC's Passionate, Goldmine, Swimming, Electric Eel and Parfait Amour (this is just a teeny tiny selection of what is on offer. Go have a play!), NARS Party Monster, Goldfinger and Fuji and BYS in Greens/Yellows. Or you can just line your eye in a nice, bright eyeliner. MAC's Fluidlines, although applied with a brush, are still easy to use and are awesome for this. They glide on perfectly. The best colour is Blue Peep. For a cheaper alternative, Rimmel and Chi Chi do a nice green and blue respectively. For staying power, try a primer under your eyeshadow.
Rainbow lips:
Ok, probably best not to paint your lips a few different colours (unless that's what you're going for), but instead - stick to the one bright lipstick. MAC has a million different shades, but my favourites are Vegas Volt, Girl About Town, Lady Danger and Morange. NARS lipsticks in Funny Face, Heat Wave and Schiap are also great, and Revlon lipsticks in Hot Coral, Orchid Beach, 24K Orange and Orange Flip are just as awesome.
Face:
Keep your base light, you need to let either your eyes or lips do the talking. A bit of primer, moisturiser and concealer is all you really need. If you must use foundation, try water- based. I use a Maybelline one that is light coverage, and doesn't slide off my face immediately.
Some examples (keep in mind, these are catwalk examples, and as a a result some are deliberately OTT. You can tone them down, or go just as crazy as they have. All images are from Style.com except for the last eye makeup image, which is from Marie Claire):
John Galliano
Benjamin Cho
Marie Claire
Thakoon
Valentino
Rodarte
If you're still stuck on clothing, I'm sure trawling around Ebay or getting a custom made design at an Etsy shop will satisfy your need. Or, you could be like me and buy some fabric at Spotlight and beg your ex-seamstress mother to make you a dress. Muuuuuum!
