Ok, that title wasn't exactly a good one. It doesn't exactly evoke the image of nice clothes. Thankfully, I don't need to evoke the image when they are all already out there, waiting to be worn.
Places like Myer had a massive range of painterly prints, mostly in that other spring/summer trend - flowers. Estelle has a pink coloured smock dress, whereas Piper Woman has an orange and blue (one of my favourite colour combinations) top.
SARA at David Jones also has plenty of smock tops in this prints, as well as some caftans. They always have caftans/tunic tops. Is every plus sized woman supposed to be six foot tall?
Target has a light blue and purple blousy top - great with their denim skirts that are currently on sale, and a cute caftan that could be worn as a tunic top or to the beach.
My favourite out of all of them though, is the maxi dress at City Chic. In blue and purple, flowing, comfortable looking, but still sexy, it's the one I want for swanning around in summer.

I just stumbled across your blog and was happy to see that you had noticed our Mink brand.
We launched it in August in Myer because we found there wasn't much out there for plus sizes who don't want to dress like their mother or like a total slapper!
And we found it particularly hard to find any good denim that wasn't cheap, overly stretchy crap denim or just really bad washes or styles so we've tried to do some styles using great quality fabric that won't stretch to a size 40 after 1 wear. We drew inspiration for style and wash from our other brand Grab which does really good denim.
Anyway.. keep a look out for our new ranges.. we're doing a really cute short sleeved vinyl biker jacket in Jan and lots more graphic tees and fashion denim styles..
Would love to hear what you think..

Thanks for commenting. I thought it was a somewhat new-ish brand, because I hadn't noticed it very much. It's not very well displayed at my local Myer. There's some lovely stuff in the range. I agree, there should be a happy medium between overly old and overly young plus sized clothing.
I'll definitely keep an eye out for your new ranges. I'll have to try on the jeans sometime, I'm always on the lookout for denim that doesn't stretch out after the first wear (I agree, so annoying).
Thanks,
Sonya

Would be interested to hear your feedback on the jeans as I read another comment by you or someone else regarding the fact that most plus size brands are made for 6ft amazons! We have been conscious of this because our size 16 fit model is pretty tall .. so we try to fit jeans to be shortish on her. She could be partly to blame as I know she does the rounds to a lot of the plus size brands as their fit model..
so keep me posted.
thanks!

I definitely made a comment like that, but I'm sure other bloggers have as well. Obviously plus sized models/fit models have to be tall, it's their job! I find a number of jeans to be rather long on me in general, and I'm an average 170 cms. I like the idea of fitting jeans short-ish, or having short, average and tall lengths. The next time I get over to Myer I'll be sure to try a pair on and see!
Thanks,
Sonya

So, I checked out some of the denim tonight. I really like the wash of the jeans and the fit isn't too bad. In my regular size I found it a tad too tight in the stomach, but slightly big at the waist/backside. I am super pear shaped! When I sized up, they were too big all around. There needs to be in between sized denim! They were also a little long, a bit too much fabric around the knees/ankle region. And I tried on the skinny jean.
Thanks,
Sonya

Thanks for your comments.
It's so hard to try to establish a good denim block ( or any block for that matter) because Trinny and Susanna are realy onto something when they say we should fit clothes by body type, not size, as no 2 body shapes are the same. We've tried our jeans on different girls in the office and they fit everyone differently.
I think it would be good if we could do 2 leg lengths and we'll definitely look at this in the future.
Also, we could look at inbetween sizes.. I mean they do them for most regular sized jeans.. will give this some consideration..
Really appreciate your feedback!

I've always said, I wish there was in between sizes! I'm usually a 16, but sometimes 16s are too snug, so I go 18, which are too big. 17 would be perfect, hah!

So it would be very very cool for Mink to be the 1st plus brand to do 1/2 sized denim.....
