Shiny fabrics

As most of you know, shiny fabrics can be extremely difficult to wear. I usually steer clear of the lighter coloured fabrics, and stick to wearing it in blouse or trench coat form. For those of you brave enough to try it in dress or skirt form, a thicker material and shapewear (if you want to wear it) can be your best friend.
I personally wear Triumph (no website that I can see, but it can be bought from most department stores) high waisted undies and a little corset thing when I'm wearing a more figure hugging outfit and when I want a smoother line. They've never rolled down on me and stay snug the entire day through to the night. However, I think they only go to a size 20.
There are other shape wear brands, styles, sizes and prices though, from Spanx to Nancy Ganz (available from most department stores and various websites) to the brand currently carried in Target at the moment - Dr. Rey, I think it's called. It can unfortunately be a matter of trial and error, as you can't try on underwear, so you're not going to know if those $50 underpants you just bought will actually fit, let alone do anything.
For those of you wanting to bypass all the hassle of shapewear and stick to blouses and jackets in shiny fabrics, Myer and David Jones are, yet again, your best bet.
David Jones has a number of items from the SARA brand on sale at the moment. From the light grey silky tunic top with jewels around the neckline, to the black trench coat (which I'm sure I've talked about before), there's bound to be something there for anyone shopping for shiny.
Myer had various tunics and light, blouse-y shirts, some on sale, some not. Jane Lamerton and Basque Woman were the best for these type of shirts. There was this one light grey one with a self spot that I am dying to have in my wardrobe. Jane Lamerton also had this black shirt dress that I am probably going to have to wait for an eventual sale. At $99.95, it's a little too much for me at the moment.
Speaking of shiny shirt dresses, City Chic had an adorable one in black when I was there on Thursday night. Also at $99.95 (although I still think they're overpriced for their quality).
Lastly, Target had a light grey sport anorak and MySize had their Emme brand tunic tops in light pink and black on sale for like, $30. If you're short, they look great as a mini dress with some thick tights.

Some great advice! I no longer fear the shine as much as I used to... but this Really Long Link is probably a bit too extreme. I love it, but I FEAR it.

No More Mumus
Oh, awesome, thanks for the rec!
That is so hot though. I think I would totally just deal with a little belly pouch to wear it.
Although, I sometimes find, depending on the thickness of the material, it's static cling city. Which annoys me so very much. Grr.
