Sizing

A recent post made by Zoe over at Axis of Fat about labels and sizing got me thinking. So often, we're governed by the tag on the item. Just the other week, I bought a pair of jeans from Barkins. I had to size up because they're a smaller make. No worries. Got to the counter and the saleswoman asked me how they fit. I replied "Fine. Little lower than I'm used to, but all good." She said: "Oh yeah, they're a small make, don't feel bad. I'd feel bad if I had to go up a size!" I replied: "I don't."
And I really really don't care. I think, as long as the article fits and looks good, then I don't give a shit about the size on the label.
Today, Zoe and I went out for lunch and retail therapy (we did last week too, shhh). We went into a store I would normally avoid like the plague (Garnsis), because I would just assume that nothing there would fit me. Turns out, I've been discounting a lot of stores, especially this one, because? So much stuff there is generously sized. So much so that myself and Zoe could easily get into a great deal of the clothing there.
So, I've learnt my lesson. Don't assume. Try everything on. Who cares about the label?

*dreams about the day when actual measurements are listed on the tags, not "sizes"*

I wish measurements were listed too! I know my measurements, and I've got so many different 'sizes' in my cupboard right now. It's so annoying.

Personally I try not to get hung up on the size. If it fits my measurements and I love it I don't care. Ok, the odd day when I'm PMSing I might care a smidgen.

I try not to either. I really agree that clothing should go by measurements, but I think manufacturers who mass produce the clothing might deem it too hard!
